Just a fifteen-minute drive northeast of Winnipeg I discovered two stunning lakes! At first glance, they look like a serene mountain lake due to the colours. But upon closer inspection, you will find that they are old quarries. I am not 100 per cent sure what was minded in them previously but I am assuming gravel or limestone.
While I was taking these photos I couldn't help but think about how we could reuse these quarries. I believe that it is important to have companies reclaim land back to its original state after they are done pillaging the land of its spoils. Unfortunately, this rarely happens and our governments intervene and use taxpayer money to help restore the land to its natural state. This got me thinking. If we are using taxpayer money why not give something back to the ones that paid for it. I think these quarry lakes would make for a stunning provincial park. I am not sure if they can be used for swimming but they would sure be a beautiful place to go for a walk, bike ride or hell just enjoying nature.
Just a thought friends I hope y'all are having a good week.
Cheers!
