Forgiveness is an act of letting go the wrongs done to us by another,not seeking revenge or holding unto their ills behavior.
The race of life has continually brought us to the place where we have to work with people from different backgrounds, as such offense is inevitable. Human being are full of imperfection, hence we need to learn the act of forgiveness.
Forgiveness is not easy neither is it a cheap commodity,but it's a necessary tool for personal healing and timely recovery. Since we're all humans with the limitations of imperfection, we're therefore encouraged to learn forgiveness.
Learning to forgive does not just benefit the offender,it also heal and unburden the offended.
Looking at forgiveness from the scriptural perspective, And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtor.(Matthew 6: 12) It admonished us to practice the act of forgiveness as God himself forgave us and died that we might be justified through his sacrifice.
In forgiveness,we don't necessarily need to wait for the offender to realize their mistake and tender their apologies in repentance. We neither need to forgive because God himself didn't find us worthy,yet he forgives us daily.
Though in most cases, they are people who hate, offend and practice the act of wickedness towards us intentionally, but nevertheless we're not to join the wicked in the act of craftiness in other to pay them back in the same coin. The best revenge from man is tender forgiveness to the offender,as God is the rewarder.
Forgiveness is an act that should be seen among believers and humanity as a whole,it is a command from God. Working with people can most times be full of offense because we're all imperfect,but learning to forgive will always faster peace existence and usher in a healthy relationship. Holding unto offense can only promote division and disunity among people, hence one of the ways to promote unity is through forgiveness.
