Hello everyone, today I want to show you all how I crochet my favorite thing in the world, a shrug.
I often hear people ask what they’ll even need a shrug for and that’s a very good question. Personally, I see shrugs to be very fashionable.
The main reason why I like shrugs is because sometimes you may feel a little cold but wouldn’t want to put on a jacket because it’ll hide your pretty dress. That’s when a shrug comes to play, it keeps you warm and also help you be fashionable in your pretty dress.
This has been my best seller since I started crocheting and truly, you can never go wrong with a shrug. Normally, I spend about 6 hours on this but I have been really busy so this time I spent 2 hours each day for 4 days to make this. Which is 8 hours in total. It is really simple to make as well and I will take you through.
The materials I used where:
• 50g yarns
• 1.60mm crochet hook
• a pair of scissors
• a needle (improvision)
• measuring tape

Precedure
I started by making the sleeves. I made the cuff of about 3 inches with half double crochets. (You can also make it longer if you want) I then made the main sleeve with double crochets. I now made the armhole by marking the sides of the sleeve with a different yarn color. This is normally done by stitch markers but I had to improvise because I couldn’t find mine. I continued crocheting from just that side.I repeated the same thing to make the other sleeve as well.

I then went ahead to make the neck.I made the neck with half double crochets.
I made a chain of about 8 inches and kept building it with double crochets until I reached a length that could cover my neck as the collar.

I then arranged the parts and sewed them together.
I didnt have a darning needle so I improvised with a normal needle. At first I used to slip stitch the parts together but it gave them a rough finish so I started sewing them rather.
I used a needle and yarn to sew them together. Also, in sewing them together, I made sure to sew it from the inner side so that after I flip it, it looks neat just like the result from a sewing machine. I folded the collar and tied the back as how it will be worn and I was done.

The result

I really enjoy making shrugs. It’s really simple yet beautiful. It was actually funny to me to know I didn’t own one yet I keep on making them for clients. My goal this year is to keep on making beautiful pieces for myself and I’m glad I’m gradually achieving them.
This was fun to make and I hope you like it.
