I noticed a few weeks ago that this day was coming up but kind of forgot about it til I got a notification recently. 10 years, wow.
Not really prepared to say much and quite exhausted lately so think I'll save that for another day.
Instead I'll just continue on reporting what I've been working on.
Web player on scrobble.life
There's a new web player now for the website, the thing to note is that it only really works on one page (not the main one), and it's mainly there for songs where you don't want to load/watch the youtube video alongside it, which currently is quite limited. If, however, you listen through songs that stem from Audius, you are able to listen to them through the player without loading the video.
Music Search
Similar here, you can only search for songs on the Audius library. This means that we now have our first music search that isn't restricted to only what's been scrobbled. Although Audius library is still limited, with these two options it opens up a bigger database for us to search through now and naturally the more people scrobble the bigger the database becomes which is all public on hive (except for anon scrobbles).
Playlists
We've added playlists now! There's a few automatic ones that'll be available to everyone: your most played, recently played and this month. Then you're able to create own custom playlists and add songs to them through the player and from most lists, they'll add a + sign if you mouse over the rank lists and ask you in which playlist you wanna add them.
Some things to keep in mind
The web player will most of the time not show up in /music, only when songs are playing that have been scrobbled from audius and /player from audius searches. The player however automatically plays when you're on the /player page, even for youtube scrobbles.
You need to create a custom playlist to be able to add songs to one.
A lot of changes at once so there may be some bugs here and there, let me know if you see any.
Only 23 unique scrobblers so far!
Don't be shy people, install the chrome extension and test it out: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/hive-scrobbler/nmiakhpbilkpimeohngjbjickchkcpio
Firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/hive-scrobbler/
It utilizes keychain and keychain's sdk and only requires your posting key so it should be relatively safe!
Didn't think I'd be this active on github a few months ago before I started learning how to properly use Claude.
Thanks to the people who pushed me to get going with it.
Anyway, maybe I should get drunk today to celebrate 10 years on this chain, cheers.
