Sunday.
The day didn't live up to its name at all. Just clouds, clouds and more clouds. I still went for a nice walk, though.
I met my calico friend on the way out of the village. She crossed the road and gave me a little chin-to-shin rub as a greeting before she disappeared into the next garden.
No time for some proper cuddles I guess, busy with feline business I assume... oh well... it's not Saturday anyway.
It's also not Friday but we're going to look at a lot of mushrooms none the less. Everything is well soaked from the rain yesterday and the fungi have begone fruiting everywhere.
These hypholoma for example are sprouting from tree stumps all over the place. I think these ones are of the most common but quite toxic sulfur tuft variety.
They're usually not fatally toxic but nausea, diarrhea and blurry vision can sometimes last for several days after ingestion.
But not all kinds of hypholoma are toxic, some are quite edible and even considered to be delicious, unfortunately they all look very much alike.
I think this patch could be of the hypholoma capnoides type, well edible, if you're either a daredevil or a proper fungi expert that is.
Definitely don't take my word for it, though. I'm not an expert at all, I just look this stuff up on the internet before writing these posts!
I also found some more pigskin poison puffballs today. They're a lot further in development than the ones we looked at three weeks ago.
The pigskin on this one is already showing some cracks and if you've been wondering why they're called puffballs... here's what happens next:
The forest seems to be glad that the summer is over. It's been a few exceedingly dry years and the trees have been longing for some rainfall.
The clover-tree-glyph I found on Wednesday already looks a little bit greener, too!
But a good googly friend apparently doesn't appreciate the cooler nights too much. Dyno has disappeared!
Not sure where he's gone, I looked around but all I found was his one eye which he left behind.
Where ever he is, I hope he's fine.
Thanks for your time!
