It was the first year in which coffee had become the official currency worldwide, that is to say the first year in which we would begin to make purchases with coffee, I still could not process that my beloved coffee, which was only for consumption, had become the currency, for me, what was now called the new exchange system from my perspective was nothing more than barter.
My head was still spinning and wondering how could we all be so stupid and let that happen, coffee is a delicacy to be consumed, but now it was the currency and this new exchange system seemed so absurd, everything was wonderful until I had to buy something, then I felt that we had gone back centuries, but nothing, that is the reality and we have to adapt.
It all started when the coffee companies announced that the coffee plants had contracted a strange plague, thanks to the mutations that had been made in some insects in agricultural laboratories and that resulted in unstable insects and with fatal mixtures, in short they wanted to do better than nature and what resulted was a disaster, as a consequence the coffee plants began to die quickly, so coffee began to be scarce and of course what was left in the market rose in price in an exaggerated way, those of us who had coffee at home kept it as a treasure.
Surprisingly, a group of scientists managed to save the coffee plants and reproduce them again, but only in laboratories under controlled conditions, which turned coffee into the most desired thing in the world, so much so that the third world war almost broke out, the only way to avoid this disaster was to distribute coffee plants to each country and turn coffee into legal tender worldwide, this implies that you can pay with grams or kilos of coffee, as well as you can also drink it.
This logically has made us manage much more with the grams that we have at home, articulate me to have a good savings in the bank managed to get a good amount of bags of coffee and what I did was to make a plan of how much coffee I can take a day to last me as long as possible and the rest to use it to acquire what is necessary for my home.
On the other hand, I am about to apply for a job in the laboratory where they take care of the coffee plants in my state, it will be an excellent way to have extra income from coffee and to drink coffee in the laboratory, since I am almost sure that they do it there regularly.
The good thing is that 100 grams of coffee is equivalent to the value of 100 dollars and although I have in my vault about 300 kilos of coffee or more, which I would not give to anyone, one never knows what people are capable of for a cup of coffee, I for one think I would kill.
In closing this is my participation in the #STB 41, in which I imagine a world in which our beloved coffee is the new world currency, a hug and thank you very much for taking a few minutes to read me.
