Scarcity of Naira Notes causing a lot of problems for us in Nigeria.
There has never been anything like this since I became an adult. Though we have faced different hardship in the country, but not of this magnitude. And it gets worsened by the day.
I personally had an experience that I want to share with the house, and wants to use this medium to proffer solution.
The scarcity of cash is a very big issue for us. I was planning to go on a journey and I needed money seriously. I took my ATM card to go to the bank as usual to withdraw money for my journey. But I got the shock of my life. I went to my bank, there was no cash to withdraw. I then decided to look around for any POS center to make my withdrawal which was the normal thing to do. The first POS I visited said to me that if I need five thousand naira #5000, I will pay # 1000. If I need ten thousand naira #10000, that I will pay #2000. All these was just happening to me for the first time.
I have been hearing that the charges for making withdrawing money from a POS stand has increased, I never knew that it was true or that it has even gotten to the level. Friends, I refused to make the withdrawal and went to another place to make enquiry. I went to all the places available for making money withdrawal, but I couldn't make any withdrawal.
All of these is as a result of scarcity of cash in the country. The country is presently going through a lot of hardship because of cash unavailability.
Few weeks back we were asked to go to any nearest bank and deposit all old cash to receive the new ones. But after we made the deposit, we were told that the new cash is not available.
This is the beginning of the problem that we are facing in Nigeria.
