"Old Stock Canadian" posted this on Facebook (which a fb friend of mine had reposted) which read "To be clear, government protocol provides guidance on flying the Canadian Flag and when doing so, the Flag flies alone on mast. Those are the rules and if you see differently, call the RCMP.
I asked why the left picture was wrong and why I should agree with government protocol and he (my fb friend) basically said that people need to show the flag the respect it deserves which means ensuring it flies alone on mast. He went on about it being a Canadian value and that people died defending the flag and my right to comment and ended it with "but to each their own" have a great day Adam"
I think free individuals (as long as they are non-violent) ought to fly whatever flag in whatever fashion they see fit. "To each their own" exactly. I'm not saying we all have to agree, that's what freedom is all about but clearly some people don't understand and would rather use government guns to violently force non-violent people into submission and acquiescence to "government protocol" all in the name of the "freedom" the flag represents.
If there is no freedom there is nothing to represent. Maybe that ought to be protected rather than government protocol ensuring uniformity of flag positioning.
If you're against something as trivial as how certain people want to position flags then you will certainly be against other perhaps more controversial (non-violent) individual freedoms. If people fought and died for anything good it was for our freedom and people need to get out of the indoctrination camps Ie school/universities, quit watching the mainstream news/entertainment and get with the spirit of liberty which is the only way humanity can ever hope to build a truly peaceful and progressive world. Government is inherently violent and has no place in communities made up of voluntary interactions between peaceful people. The only way for violence and hate to continue to plague humanity is for people to continue believing in and pushing these senseless authoritarian positions.
What do you think? I'd love to hear what the steemit community has to say on these matters.
