Yoton Y3 Mini Projector
A MINI PROJECTOR THAT'S ACTUALLY MINI
I was excited to receive this projector. It's a "mini" projector that's actually mini. Mini in size and function. It doesn't try to be an Apple TV or Android TV or computer. It's just a projector in the old school way. You connect stuff to it, and it displays it on a wall/screen.
This Yoton Y3 takes all the usual inputs; HDMI, USB, in addition to memory cards. It doesn't come with an Android TV software like some projectors, but it does have it's own very fast firmware. The firmware is rubbish, truth be told, but that's only if you're relying on it to play audio or video files for you - which it can. The idea is for you to play the content from your phone, tablet, computer or other specialised device. It's job is to accept video/audio via HDMI, USB or card interface, and display it.
In that case, it does the job well within limits. It's a 720p native device, which is the maximum resolution it can output. I find this to be adequate for what it is. I have a proper professional grade projector I use for proper home cinema reasons. This one is meant to be portable for sharing videos from your phone with a small group. And it does that well. In my next post I will show you my favourite way to use this device.
