We are now in the world of openness, simply everything we do now is open where there are no more restrictions. Like this saying:

Mobile phones are used every day and at the same time the mobile phone keeps improving our day to day activities. Fortunately the rise of mobile devices has made a very big impact in lowering the barriers to health and as well as given patients new tools that can be used for taking responsibility for their personal health.
Many personal health apps are also driving a mobile revolution in health-care.

These simple systems offer a wide-array of tools and software. Voice-capture, email, text messaging and video conferencing may seem like mundane features, but for smaller organizations especially, smartphones and tablets offer a means of streamlining communication and increasing collaborative efforts.

As times goes on, there are numbers of smartphone apps which are now widely used in clinical and health practice and the same time offer an opportunity in providing support to patients in the area of notifications (when and how to use prescribed drugs) .

RxDroid is an open-source Android application that functions has a simple medication reminder that keep track of how user take his/her medications, pill count and also issue warning about getting a refill in time.

Some of the features include

No ads

Ads can be so frustrating, many users feel uncomfortable using some applications. Using an application and some kind of an advertisement banner pops up which you could mistakenly click that will eventually takes you out of your original application pages. Navigating back to your original page could later become costly where an error can easily pops up where you loose all your previous works done on your original application. You have no choice than to start all over again which could be stressful.
This is always a bad experience and i always prefer to use an application that serves no ads and RxDroid is one application that offer that best experience compared to other similar ones.

Limited permissions

Many application dictate the level of usage to users that restrict many of the users to have full control of their applications. Though we are in the world of openness where everything seems to be open to owners convenience but many application developers still tend to keep off some areas of control on their applications that restrict users from operating that particular segment on the application until permission is granted to user which could go a very long way during the process,most permission even tend to ask for a cost in order to grant the users permission.

This can prove to be frustrating to many users that make them abandon that particular application due to the fact they could not operate it to the least level but RxDroid is so open and requires only a very limited permissions.

Reminder of Medication

This is one of the reason i used the RxDroid application. Like it is said a man must work so that he could be able to cater for his need. To achieve this, it will necessitate an everyday activities, eg going to work, boarding a bus, performing different activities etc.
Performing this activities in strive to make a living can make man forget to take good care of his health, in this situation nothing comes to the head of a man than to work and get paid after work.

For example am on dose whereby i am being advise to always take my drugs every-time but with my intentions of making it, working to get money i might be so busy whereas i will always forgot to take my pills which is later dangerous for my health.
The RxDroid application could be very useful in the area where it perform the task of notifying me on when to use the pills to avoid a deteriorating of my health.

Tracking of Pill count

This is also a very good reason of using RxDroid application, the application at first during the setting ask for my number of pills i have left, after this process it start its counting of pills from the very first day and when my pills are almost exhausted it give me a notification that require me to refill my pills in order not to run out of the pills.

This is a simple interface of my RxDroid application where i have set all necessary things.

Ibucap

Ibucap is name of my pills and my RxDroid application will notify me using the name of my pills (Ibucap)

Morning - set 1 pill in the Morning
Noon - set 1 pill at noon
Night - set 1 pill at night
The RxDroid application will notify me during this hours (Morning, Noon, Night)

Repetition -

The RxDroid application will remind me "Daily"

End -

No end date set but for other users you can therefore set the end date when you intend to stop the pills and the application will get you notified.

Icon -

As at time of notification from the application, it show a tablet icon to specify that it is time to use your pills

Refill Size-

The RxDroid application will ask user to specify the amount and size of pills to be refilled in order to notify user the amount and portion to purchase as at when due.

Current Supply

The RxDroid application will notify user of the date the current supply will be exhausted

Reminder

This is based on users choice specifying the application to remind all or some chosen days.

Conclusion

RxDroid is many ways ahead of any similar application, after going through its feature i found it very useful and worthy of using. The fact that the application is able to notify user at all time as at when pills is to be taken, it serves as an ideal application that can develop the healthcare industry and the universe as a whole.
