Now this card is pretty sweet. THIS card might be worth some real money in a few decades.
The sports card industry is pretty much booming right now, I saw rap superstar Drake on Instagram Live with some card/memorabilia collector the other day and I'm not gonna lie that kind of surprised me. Drake's obviously arguably the biggest celebrity on the planet.
Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert is a young improving NFL quarterback and some people have him as a top ten, even a top five quarterback in the league already, and the kid is only entering his third NFL season in 2022.
Simply put, Herbert is one of the brightest young stars in the league today. Already putting up absurd numbers.
There were some question marks about Herbert when he was initially drafted number six overall by the Chargers in 2020, but he put pretty much all the doubters to bed quick, fast, and in a hurry in his very first start as a rookie, which was in week two of that year.
How did Herbert quickly prove himself as legit in pretty much a single game? By nearly defeating the defending Super Bowl Champs from the previous season, the Kansas City Chiefs in his very first start! I remember watching that game in shock that the Chiefs really almost lost! That alone was super impressive, but the fact that the Chiefs are ALSO division rivals of the Chargers, made that nail-biter of a game much much more interesting, much more of a statement by Herbert and the Chargers.
That statement was simple: there's a new QB in the West, and it's likely that there will be MANY more epic battles between Mahomes and Herbert for the next decade or longer.
Herbert was by no means flawless, he made some rookie mistakes here and there, but overall Herbert established himself as more than competent. He's got great size for the position, he's very athletic and mobile, he's got a strong, accurate arm, and he can play in the pocket and read defenses.
He can do it all.
Herbert plays in probably the toughest division in football, so it may be hard for him to win, but I mean, the kid is good. I would not put it past him to be the next best QB in football one day soon. It's entirely possible at this point. He's done nothing but produce and he seems to be getting better in my opinion.
Being thrust into an elite division can really benefit him too.
Herbert is only 24 years old, in fact he JUST turned 24. The upside for this kid is just pretty much limitless at this point. If he continues to work and perfect his craft this old rookie card here could be worth some serious cash!
At least, that's what I'm hoping for LOL.
Here's the card. Looks pretty sweet to me! This bad boy just might age BEAUTIFULLY.
Herbert's second season proved to be more of the same and then some. He led the Chargers to a winning record and threw for five thousand yards.
The kid is a weapon, and the Chargers seem to be serious about building around him.
In only two seasons, and thirty-two starts into his career Herbert has already accomplished A LOT as a pro QB.
Herbert's stats and accolades just two years into his career:
- 9,350 Career Passing Yards
- 69 TD - 25 INT Career Ratio
- 536 Career Rushing Yards
- 8 Rushing Touchdowns
- 2020 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year
- 1x Pro Bowl
- Holds 4 NFL Rookie Records
- Most Passing TD's (31)
- Passing Yards Per Game (289.1)
- 300 Yard Passing Games (8)
- Most Pass Completions (396)
Even if Herbert decided to retire today. He still made an unforgettable mark on NFL History.
The Chargers are in good shape at QB for a long time I believe. Perhaps Herbert could start to decline, I mean anything is possible. But so far so good. Chargers fans should be excited about the future.
I can't wait to see what Herbert can do in the future. Every accomplishment he accomplishes, makes this card THAT much more valuable! LOL.
What do you think of this card and Justin Herbert?
How much do you think this card could be worth one day?
