I'm FINALLY getting to the Titans final selection in the 2023 NFL Draft. About two weeks later LOL. I am temporarily pulling myself away from playing my new Hogwarts Legacy game, but I am glad to make this post.
The Titans finally made Titans fans happy, at least somewhat considering how late the pick is, by selecting a straight up receiver in Colton Dowell.
The Titans did draft a nice pass catching tight end in Josh Whyle in round five, but Titans fans aren't dumb and are well aware of the need at WR. In theory, the Titans have an ok WR core, and the tight ends hopefully will help, but ultimately it's pretty poor at wideout in Tennessee. There is potential with Treylon Burks and Kyle Philips hopefully improving in year two. NWI is ok but in the big picture he's really a WR3. There's just not enough juice it seems.
The selection is late but still, Colton Dowell looks like a nice wide receiver with good size and good hands. He looks like a go-to, possession type of receiver that can play wide. I don't see him as a slot small quick type, I think he can be an upgrade at NWI at some point.
Colton comes from a smaller school, but he does have a ton of college experience. He redshirted in 2017 as a freshman and then it seems due to Covid he may have gotten another year of eligibility so he was at UT Martin for six seasons in total. Crazy. In five seasons actually playing Colton caught 177 passes for 2,796 yards and 19 touchdowns. Great production.
Seems like a good reliable target!

Colton is a Tennessee guy through and through and was a Titans fan as a kid! How freaking lucky!! He's from Tennessee, played college football in Tennessee now he's playing as a pro in Tennessee!
