It's usually pretty difficult to find starter level or better talent late in the NFL Draft, but my gut is telling me the Titans may have done just that. They select Indiana center Pat Coogan in the sixth round and he definitely has great potential for several reasons other than simply being a good offensive lineman I guess.
Coogan has a ton of experience. He began his career at Notre Dame where he started for two straight seasons in 2023 and 2024. He actually played guard in 2023 before playing center in 2024. In 2024 he and Notre Dame went all the way to the National Championship before losing to Ohio State.
Then in his final year of eligibility, Coogan transferred to Indiana where he blocked for first overall draft pick, QB Fernando Mendoza. Coogan would win the National Championship with Indiana. So that's two consecutive seasons of making it to the National Championship Game, experiencing both the loss and the victory. Pretty great, dude is a winner.
That background would be great as it is, but Coogan offers more. Not only did he win the National Championship, Coogan won Offensive Rose Bowl MVP as a CENTER! That's just unheard of! Technically, the whole offensive line won it but they couldn't give several players the award so Coogan accepted it. But the fact that they ended up giving it to him is so impressive!
Also, Coogan was high school teammates with WR Carnell Tate, the Titans first round selection!
Coogan is a really impressive speaker and seems like an intelligent, natural leader. I was impressed by this post draft interview! Wise dude for sure.

I mean, for a sixth round pick, Coogan stands out a lot to me! I think he's a valuable addition to the team!
Welcome to the squad, Pat.
