Fish Sepat is a fish that lives in fresh water and belongs to the Trichogaster clan, a member of Osphronemidae gouramy tribe. In Indonesia these fish are known as fish consumption. and some of them are traded as ornamental fish. This fish is known by local names such as paddy fields / swamps, sepat jawa, blue shoes, sepong ronggeng (Melayu), sapek (Minang) and others. In the trade of ornamental fish such as three spots gourami, Blue gourami, Cosby gourami, Gold gourami, Golden gourami, and Opaline gourami. Sepat was originally classified into the tribe Belontiidae, with hick and relatives. But now this tribe has been incorporated into the Osphronemidae tribe, which also includes gouramy and dwarf sept (Colisa).
The Trichogaster clan is closely related to the Colisa clan; members of both clans have both a whiplash fins. But the Trichogaster genus has relatively shorter dorsal fins, and its adult individuals are much larger than Colisa.
