ENG - A few months ago, I started a personal project to participate in a competition where a decoration for the walls of an office would have to be designed. The office was the headquarters of Zooppa, a portal that groups competitions of well-known brands. Compared to other portals, the awards are really interesting and the longest maturities. Obviously the works presented are of the highest quality. I'm not a fan of the competition portals because of several questionable points such as low prizes, deadlines and the fact that to choose winners are sometimes people who unfortunately do not have the necessary requirements. If the contest is however organized in a serious way, it can be a stimulus to creativity and get involved.
Unfortunately I have never participated ... as you will see I threw myself into a rather demanding job and once the first part is over, the deadline was already long gone!
ITA - Qualche mese fa, iniziai un progetto personale per partecipare a un concorso dove si sarebbe dovuto ideare una decorazione per le pareti di un ufficio. L'ufficio era quello della sede di Zooppa, un portale che raggruppa concorsi di brand conosciuti. Rispetto ad altri portali, i premi sono veramente interessanti e le scadenze più lunghe. Ovvio che i lavori presentati sono di altissima qualità. Non sono un fan dei portali per concorsi per via di diversi punti discutibili come i premi bassi, le scadenze tirate e il fatto che a scegliere i vincitori a volte siano persone che purtroppo non hanno i dovuti requisiti. Se il contest è però organizzato in maniera seria, può essere uno stimolo alla creatività e a mettersi in gioco.
Purtroppo non ho mai partecipato... come vedrete mi sono buttato in un lavoro piuttosto impegnativo e una volta finita la prima parte, la scadenza ormai era già passata da un pezzo!
Brief
ENG - In reality there was not much information on what design should represent, so much freedom was given. It was only said that Zooppa was an open company where people from different parts of the world collaborate, and in the same way it is aimed at creatives from all over the globe. The measures were specified and the walls to be decorated would have been three.
ITA - In realtà non c'erano molte indicazioni su cosa il design dovesse rappresentare, quindi è stata data molta libertà. Veniva solo detto che Zooppa era un'azienda aperta dove collaborano persone proveniente da diverse parti del mondo, e allo stesso modo si rivolge a creativi di tutto il globo. Sono state specificate le misure e i muri da decorare sarebbero stati tre.
Concept and sketch
ENG - I decided to represent people of different ethnic groups and cultures that are held by the hand. In the background the map of the earth.
After a long research (I will have printed a good fifty sheets on people of different cultures and peoples!) I started drawing sketches.
ITA - Ho deciso di rappresentare persone di diverse etnie e culture che si tengono per mano. Sullo sfondo la cartina della terra.
Dopo una lunga ricerca (avrò stampato una buona cinquantina di fogli su persone di diverse culture e popoli!) ho iniziato disegnare gli schizzi.
Clean up
ENG - After various corrections and changes, I review the pencil lines, in order to define everything and work better in digital.
ITA - Dopo varie correzioni e modifiche, ripasso le linee a matita, in modo da definire il tutto e lavorare meglio in digitale.
Inking
ENG - Inking and coloring were done in vector (using Adobe Illustrator), so you can enlarge the image to the desired measurements without losing quality.
ITA - L'inchiostratura e la colorazione sono state fatte in vettoriale (usando Adobe Illustrator), in modo da poter ingrandire l'immagine alle misure desiderate senza perdere qualità.
Coloring
ENG - Step by step I arrive at the coloring of the design that I have brought forward. I try two types of atmosphere, with warm colors and cold colors. Which one do you prefer?
ITA - Passo dopo passo arrivo alla colorazione del disegno che ho portato avanti. Provo due tipi di atmosfera, con i colori caldi e con i colori freddi. Voi quale preferite?
