Are Genetically Modified (GM) crops necessary for fighting against hunger?

DNA (Deoxyribonucleic Acid) is the source code of every living cell. It determines the shape, size, color, type and other qualities of every creature.
Scientists have manage to manipulate the programming of DNA in such a way that can completely transform a plant or animal species.

Scientists have also changed DNA of many plant and animal species. These plants and animals are called Genetically Modified (GM) plants and animals.
We have GM crops about which the companies claim that they are the only way for us to feed our population. On the other hand, some people argue that GM crops will lead to complete monopoly of agro giants like Monsento, Buyer etc. That will eventually lead to the apocalyptic situation.
