This illustration will bring back memories of the past for some people, haha.
I don't know if this is the case in most countries, but I know that in many there is a tradition of Christmas gift exchanges in offices, schools and many workplaces, so I know that more than one person has ended up with an unequal exchange (some have given more than they received). For example, a little while ago I gave some good wine as a gift and I received a chocolate bar in return... yes, a chocolate bar, and not even an expensive one.
Anyway, I think Wrackoo got a rather stingy Zappit, which undoubtedly continues to pave the way for our green friend's hatred and contempt for Christmas...
At first, I visualised this piece in a shopping centre where Wrackoo was buying a nice watch and Zappit was buying a mug on sale, but I found it too complex to synthesise into a single image and, to be honest, I think that's what I need to do to tell the story I want to tell.
Those who follow my illustrations will notice that I have returned to using vectors. I do this for the selection of areas and the brush. I am also avoiding blurring the pieces as I used to do, as I think that detracts from the cartoon effect I want to maintain. Another change I want to make is to start curving the characters' silhouettes more, something more like the typical Tom and Jerry, This would help me with the expressions, which I think I'm doing quite well, but they could be even more expressive.
Part of this process is to create a more cartoonish version of each character. You know, redraw each one a little, and start making more domestic and less wild settings. I think I'll stay away from super powerful attacks for a while, haha.
I hope you like it.
See you soon!
