From what I've heard, there is a valley in Bukit Rata that is overrun with weird yet gorgeous mushrooms.
With a group of mushroom hunters, we made a trip to the valley this afternoon to see if mushrooms actually exist. We traveled there in a 4x4 off-road truck because the terrain leading to the valley is fairly difficult.
It just took us 15 minutes to arrive. We were taken aback before entering the valley's woodland when we saw red and hairy mushrooms blooming on a wooden bridge we were passing. The bristly tropical cup (Cookeina tricholoma) is how people refer to that fungus.
We were even more astonished to find the bristly tropical cup blooming on the roots of the wood as we entered the valley forest. Oh my! Those fungi actually exist, as people say, and they are the most beautiful mushrooms I've ever seen.
So I submitted this post to the #FungiFriday Challenge hosted by Ewkaw. Thank you!
Note: While this is a fictional story, the mushrooms and the location are real.
Happy #FungiFriday! 😉
