I found this bee in a grassy area near a small marsh early last June. Dieunomia nevadensis (Cresson, 1874) , commonly called the Nevada nomia bee, is a species of sweat bee belonging to the genus Dieunomia. It was slightly bigger than a sweat bee belonging to the genus Pseudapis . Anyone who sees this bee may be confused about identifying it. Does it belong to the genus Dieunomia or Pseudapis? But if you carefully examine its abdomen—the base of the abdomen is bright orange—you will see that it does not belong to the genus Pseudapis but to the species Dieunomia.
