Hello,
I love to contribute to the question tagged "What is Baptism in the Bible?"
What does the Bible says about baptism?
There is nothing against those who go to the Jordan River spending thousands of dollars from different parts of the world in order to be baptized there,if they can afford it.
If the one officiating the baptism is a true baptiser that is the only question there.
But,baptism without any question is a commandment of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Mark 10:39
And they said unto him, We can. And Jesus said unto them, Ye shall indeed drink of the cup that I drink of; and with the baptism that I am baptized withal shall ye be baptized:
So,there was an example of baptism that was received by our Lord Jesus Christ.
This is because baptism is the washing away of sin according to the Bible.
It is a period of Repentance.
The Lord Jesus have nothing to repent of, he did not commit any sin.
Ist Peter 2:22
Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
There is no necessity for the Lord Jesus to be baptized.
Acts 2:38
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
The intent of baptism is for the remission of sins and repentance.
When Ananias went to Paul and asked him to be baptized he said what was written in the book of Acts 22:16
And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.
Ananias said this to Paul after he had been converted from persecuting the Christian Faith, this was for the forgiveness of his sin's that he has committed to the church.
Although some people believe baptism is a ritual to give a baby name.
This is wrong and not biblical.
Those that are being baptized are not being given names, they already have a name.
For all the 30years, HE lived with his Mother and his foster father. He did not commit any sin to his brethren, even to his parent or anybody.
And Jesus said that you must be baptized in the baptism wherein I was baptized.
He did not say that you must be baptized in the same river where in He was baptized.
I would like to employ you all my brethren to take the bold step and be baptized as Jesus was baptized.
