Buenas noches amigos, hoy quiero compartir con ustedes una especie de blog donde veremos que cosas se pueden comprar actualmente con $136 en mi país Venezuela, creo que es algo bastante interesante sobre todo para aquello que viven en otro país y asi comparar que tan jodidos estamos en Venezuela jajaja. A pesar de que todo esta super costoso juraba que compraría menos cosas, asi de enfermos nos tienen, siempre vamos a comprar con un pesimismo terrible y esperando que el dinero no alcance para nada. Esta compra no tiene lo que mas se necesita para sobrevivir un mes completo, de hecho, es como para dos semanas y eso teniendo en cuenta que hay cosas que no compre demasiado porque aun tengo en casa.

Good evening, friends. Today I want to share with you a sort of blog post where we’ll see what you can actually buy with $136 in my country, Venezuela. I think it’s pretty interesting, especially for those of you living in other countries, so you can see just how screwed we are in Venezuela, hahaha. Even though everything is super expensive, I swore I’d buy fewer things—that’s how messed up we’ve become. We always go shopping with a terrible sense of pessimism, expecting the money won’t be enough for anything. This shopping trip doesn’t cover what’s needed to survive a full month; in fact, it’s enough for about two weeks—and that’s considering I didn’t buy too much of some things because I still have them at home.

En casa tenemos 3 pollos aun en el congelador y varias cosas que aún no se acababan, aunque si me faltaba queso, huevos, mantequilla, salsas, mayonesa, entre otras cosas. Aclaro para que entiendan porque no compre tanto pollo/carne jaja, el motivo de las compras de hoy aparte de hacer una especie de restock de cosas es porque mañana habrá una especie de “simulacro” realmente no entendí bien que quiere decir, pero como nunca nos pasa nada bueno me dio miedo y es mejor prevenir que lamentar jajaja, todo esta muy raro y sospechoso y la gente en redes estan inventando mil teorías. El supermercado estaba un poco colapsado hoy por cierto, supongo que fue por eso.

We still have three chickens in the freezer at home and a bunch of other things that weren’t quite finished yet, although I was running low on cheese, eggs, butter, sauces, mayonnaise, and other things. Just to clarify so you understand why I didn’t buy that much chicken or meat, haha—the reason for today’s shopping, aside from restocking some items, is that tomorrow there’s going to be some kind of “drill.” I didn’t really understand what that means, but since nothing good ever happens to us, I got scared, and it’s better to be safe than sorry, hahaha. Everything is really weird and suspicious, and people on social media are coming up with a thousand theories. The supermarket was a bit crowded today, by the way—I guess that’s why.

Muchas personas hubiesen administrado mejor este presupuesto, pero esto era lo que necesitábamos y además algunas cosas que compramos para matar algunos antojos, cosa que muchas familias en Venezuela ni siquiera se pueden permitir, es una realidad bastante difícil y que entiendo bastante bien porque hoy compramos lo suficiente pero dentro de dos semanas estaremos hasta el cuello nuevamente, en este país hay que gastar mínimo $150 cada dos semanas en comida para al menos comer “bien” sin embargo, faltan muchas cosas básicas que si las tienes que comprar todas juntas seria imposible comprarlas sin al menos tener un presupuesto de $300 como mínimo.

Many people would have managed this budget better, but this was what we needed, plus a few things we bought to satisfy some cravings, many families in Venezuela can’t even afford. It’s a pretty tough reality, and I understand it all too well because today we bought enough, but in two weeks we’ll be up to our necks again. In this country, you have to spend at least $150 every two weeks on food just to eat “well”; however, there are many basic items missing, and if you had to buy them all at once, it would be impossible to do so without a budget of at least $300.

Al menos por hoy, por esta semana, estoy tranquila… Tener la nevera llena es un lujo y un alivio enorme en estos tiempos, es triste porque siempre quieres comprar otras cosas que tambien necesitas pero debes elegir entre eso o comer…

At least for today, for this week, I feel at ease… Having a full fridge is a luxury and a huge relief these days; it’s sad because you always want to buy other things you need too, but you have to choose between that or eating...

Por cierto, muchas de las cosas que agarre estaban en “oferta” por ejemplo: la leche, ya que la leche normalmente cuesta $15 pero hoy estaba en oferta una marca en especifico en $13… Este supermercado tiene la característica de que a veces coloca ofertas aunque algunas son engañosas pero hay otras muy buenas, otro ejemplo es el papel higiénico que es un papel grande de 600 hojas y costo super económico por ser una marca nueva en el mercado, normalmente cualquier papel de esa cantidad de hojas cuesta $5. Bueno esas fueron mis compras de hoy, que les parece, lo ven caro, me estafaron o esta bien? jaja

By the way, many of the things I grabbed were on "sale." For example, the milk, which normally costs $15, was on sale today for a specific brand at $13. This supermarket is known for sometimes having sales, although some are misleading, but others are really good. Another example is the toilet paper, which is a large roll of 600 sheets and super cheap because it's a new brand on the market. Normally, any roll of that many sheets costs $5.
