Paper flower (A bit of a fail)

Resulta que hace unas semanas me ha estado saliendo varios videos en IG de personas haciendo rosas de papel, desde la primera vez que lo vi me encanto y quise probarlo, pero realmente no había tenido tiempo hasta hoy en la tarde que me animé a hacerlo. El resultado final no fue el mejor por algunos errores que cometí durante el proceso que jamás explicaron en el video tutorial que vi, pero yo si les comentare un poco que fue lo que hice bien y mal.

It turns out that a few weeks ago, I started seeing several videos on Instagram of people making paper roses. From the first time I saw it, I loved it and wanted to try it, but I hadn't had the time until this afternoon when I finally got around to it. The final result wasn't the best because of some mistakes I made during the process that weren't explained in the video tutorial I watched, but I'll share a little about what I did right and wrong.

Para empezar tomamos dos servilletas grandes, las juntamos y la doblamos por la mitad dos veces, con un marcador vamos a dibujar un circulo en el medio y luego recortar ese circulo.

To begin, we take two large napkins, put them together and fold them in half twice. With a marker, we draw a circle in the middle and then cut out that circle.

Les recomiendo repetí el paso anterior una segunda vez para tener más pétalos ya que a mí, al momento de armar la rosa me faltaron pétalos y tuve que repetir todo el proceso de nuevo, retrasándome muchísimo. Ok, luego de recortar el circulo debemos separarlos uno de otro y para evitar manchar nuestra mesa de trabajo colocaremos una bolsa o algún plástico debajo para luego comenzar a agregar color con los marcadores que hayas elegido, esta vez elegí morado y azul, pinte todo el borde de los pétalos y luego tome el alcohol en spray y lo rocié encima de todos los círculos, esto hizo que la tinta del marcador se esparciera y asi lograr teñir nuestros pétalos de una manera bastante bonita, casi simulando las acuarelas. Luego hay que dejar secar los pétalos y yo los puse en frente de un ventilador para hacer el proceso mas rápido.

I recommend repeating the previous step a second time to get more petals, because when I was assembling the rose, I ran out and had to repeat the whole process, which slowed me down considerably. Okay, after cutting out the circles, we need to separate them. To avoid staining our work surface, we'll place a bag or some plastic underneath. Then we can start adding color with the markers you've chosen. This time I chose purple and blue. I painted the entire edge of the petals and then took the rubbing alcohol spray and sprayed it over all the circles. This made the marker ink spread, allowing us to tint our petals in a pretty way, almost like watercolors. Then we have to let the petals dry. I put them in front of a fan to speed up the process.

Una vez que los pétalos estén secos le vamos a dar forma a la rosa pegándolos en capas alrededor del borde del vaso, después de pegar todos mis pétalos me di cuenta que me faltaban más, asi que, como mencioné anteriormente tuve que volver a empezar de cero para poder rellenar lo que me faltaba y lo peor es que no quedaron tan bonitos como los primeros y no se secaron bien, eso destruyo un poco la forma de mi rosa pero aun asi si parece una flor o eso creo.

Once the petals are dry, we'll shape the rose by gluing them in layers around the edge of the glass. After gluing all my petals, I realized I was missing more, so, as I mentioned before, I had to start over from scratch to fill in what was missing. The worst part is that they didn't turn out as pretty as the first ones and they didn't dry well. That ruined the shape of my rose a bit, but it still looks like a flower, or at least I think so.

Esta es una idea muy bonita para hacer varias rosas y adornar alguna parte de la casa o para regalar, además es facil de hacer pero debes tener en cuenta que si harás un ramo de estas rosas gastaras bastante servilletas jaja.

This is a very pretty idea for making several roses to decorate part of the house or to give as a gift. It's also easy to make, but keep in mind that if you make a bouquet of these roses, you'll use quite a few napkins, haha.
