Coburg market place/Coburg Marktplatz
Today was another long day at the office. Office is much said as I've spent a lot of time in the car and at a supplier to check the status of one order. Of course everything was followed by a dinner late in the evening.
After that I wanted to see Coburg. When I'm in a new city, I try to see as much as I can, rather than to linger in the hotel room and work.
Heute war wieder ein langer Arbeitstag. Nach der Fahrt von München nach Coburg, war ich bei einem Lieferant um den Status einer Bestellung zu prüfen. Natürlich musste ich wieder zum Arbeitsabendessen gehen.
Danach wollte ich Coburg sehen. Wenn ich für die Arbeit reise möchte auch die Umgebung sehen.
Town hall/Rathaus
I was surprised by the beauty of the town. It is full of narrow streets, big market places, old palaces and buildings. Simply gorgeous. Even if the streets where empty, I enjoyed the long walk. It was nice that the city did not suffer the mad bombing of the end of WW2. Most cities in Germany have suffered a lot of damage when the war was already over, but this is another story.
Ich war überrascht von der Schönheit der Stadt. Es ist voll von engen Gassen, große Marktplätze, alte Paläste und Gebäude. Einfach wunderbar. Auch wenn die Straßen lehr waren, habe den Spaziergang genossen. Es ist eine schöne Stadt die nicht zu viel Schaden abbekommen hat am Ende des 2ten Weltkrieges. Die meiste Deutsche Städte wurden fast zerstört wenn der Krieg schon am Ende war, aber das ist eine andere Geschichte.
Palais Edinburgh/Schloss Ehrenburg
One of the interesting thing is that the coat of arms of the city which is a moor with a golden earring. It was granted in the late 1400 and represents the Saint Maurice, the patron of the town.
Ein interessanter Aspekt ist das Wappen der Stadt welches aus einem Maurer Kopf mit einem goldenen Ohrring besteht. Es ist der Heilige Mauritius, der Stadtpatron
