After at least a month of hot sunny weather and no rain the garden is struggling, especially the lawn. The only green left on it is from draining out the kids paddling pool.
Even in the more sheltered top garden the grass is the same.
Around the pond some of the plants are also dying back as there is no water in the soil for them, only the plants with deep roots are unaffected but where everything should be growing like mad they are just holding their own. Never one to moan about warm weather and sunshine, we don't get enough in the British summer time usually we do need a few showers. I've been using a watering can on the pots on the patio and decking so they are doing well but I'm going to have to start watering the worst effected plant around the pond with water from the pond. Already the pond level has dropped by about 3 or 4 inch but it's deep enough so itwon't dry up.
In some parts of the UK there is now a hosepipe ban and while not in our area yet I don't want to be using it so have to wait for the weather to break and a few showers, not too many though as it will be nice to have a nice sunny Summer.
