Humans have always tried to keep their lives under control. We make plans take decisions and believe that we can shape our own future. But the reality is that the world is not completely under our control. Natural circumstances sudden events and the decisions of others affect our lives which makes us realize that our control can actually be an illusion as well.
In everyday life, we keep ourselves satisfied by controlling small things like planning our time or organizing routines. All of this gives us temporary peace that we’re managing situations. But as soon as an unexpected situation arises like a sudden problem or failure our confidence gets shaken and we begin to realize our limitations.
One major reason for this illusion is the human instinct to avoid uncertainty. We want everything to be clear and certain but life always remains uncertain. This very uncertainty makes life both difficult and interesting. If everything were under our control perhaps there would be no opportunity in life to learn, grow and be surprised.
Gaining complete control is not possible but the real wisdom lies in understanding situations and adapting ourselves to them. We should keep making our efforts yet also accept the reality that not everything is within our power. This mindset can give us mental peace and make us better able to handle life’s ups and downs.
