Now for our daily shots with my wife, my son and I when we headed to the National Museum of Fine Arts in Manila. We didn't waste any time and headed straight to the most famous exhibit which is the Spoliarium by Juan Luna. Seeing the massive painting in person was a completely different experience.
We spent a good amount of time just standing there, appreciating the skill and the story behind it. It truly is the crown jewel of the museum and gets everyone’s attention. After absorbing the Spoliarium, we moved on to explore the other sections of the art building.
There were so many rooms to wander through. We saw arts from the Spanish colonial period, portraits of historical figures and various sculptures. It was fascinating to see Filipino art through the centuries.
We strolled at a slow pace, pointing out cool arts to each other and just enjoying the beauty of the creativity on display.
All that walking went up an appetite. By the time we stepped out of the museum, we were all starving. We went over to San Juan to visit the legendary Charlie’s Noodle House. We ordered a steaming bowl of their special noodles with siomai and some delicious large siopao. It was a simple rest day for us but filled with our culture and even good food.
