In the past few months, I have gone (under the advice of Legal Aid) through the Maintenance Program in Alberta. The person involved was ordered to pay 368.00 per month.
Right. See - 368??
The first month, MEP didn't take anything out of her payment. Second and third months? They keep taking "interest" out of her monthly payments.
Um, no? That as far as I know is not legal. If the other person owes interest, you go after them. You don't take pennies or bucks from a child.
That's just horseshit. MORE stress, thanks to "lovely" government programs". Why do they even have these? The entire point I was advised, was to "make sure your daughter gets the amount awarded." Um, how? When this program is stealing money from her.
That's such horseshit IMO.
