Hallwyl Castle is one of the most beautiful romantic water castles in Switzerland. The castle was built about 11th century and is idyllically located in the nature reserve of Hallwiler lake on two islands, near to the northern end of the lake. Since 1925 it is open for the public. When it is open inside you can visit medieval and modern life in eleven different topics. Is also possible to reserve for a wedding or a party.
A bit above the lake Hallwil, to protect the flora and fauna of Lake, which was formed by glaciers, the lake and the shore are preserved by several laws. In this way the shore landscape around the lake is mostly undeveloped, the approx. 22 km long lakeside path leads around the lake, across the shore landscapes and is easy to hike. You pass villages and ship landing stages where you can change ships or stop for a rest to eat.
A walk around the lake from Boniswil takes about five hours wit amazing views to the Alps.
Have a beautiful Day!
