The airport is located about five kilometers north of the city Bilbao and very easy to reach. There is a bus line for 3 Euros in addition to cab or rental car. With Bizkaia card even cheaper actually the best option to travel Bilbao and the rest of Bizkaia. The airport was opened in 1955 with 2 terminals since 2005. The terminal was designed by the architect Santiago Calatrava and enjoys great popularity by many tourists.
Also in Bilbao they speak Basque, a language of Europe like no other, named Euskara, the official language of the Basques, is the last existing descendant of the pre-Indo-European languages. Euskara, as it is self named, is the oldest and today the only isolated language still existing in all of Europe, very intersting language.
