Much like with SteemIt, I recently started playing a game called League of Legends on my MacBook, & although I had absolutely NO IDEA what the game was or even how to play it, I took the plunge anyway, knowing that I would make some bonehead mistakes. & so, I got some virtual cuts & bruises, but I also learned very rapidly from those mistakes, which has shaped me into a valuable player in the game, & a great ally to have, which I also hope to be to many of you in the SteemIt community.
See, I believe that theory is a great tool to see what works & what has been done, but sometimes, when you have no theory to go by in order to do what you want to do — & if you happen to be a trailblazer like me, attempting to pave a new way — you just have to take the plunge like I did & risk it all in order to learn, & hopefully, you’ll attract the right people to get behind you — maybe even some mentors to teach you certain things along the way. I know it’s unconventional, & I know you may encounter some criticism, hate, & negativity from trolling haters, but I never claimed this strategy was perfect, right, or wrong. What I am saying is that, at least you got started. Sure, you might miss some of the shots you attempt, but you’ll also be taking shots that you might make — & that’s far better than just sitting behind a desk at school, studying theory for the next 20 years & applying none of it. Right? For instance, I just posted a video on DTube last night of my adventure with friends at the Vancouver International Auto Show (which you can watch here: https://bit.ly/2q7b2qu), & I don’t know if it’s going to get traction, or if people will watch it, or if it’ll even get upvotes — but I took a chance, & am waiting here patiently to see the results.
Like the great hockey legend, Wayne Gretzky, once said, “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.”
& if the haters want to focus only on your slips, falls, & misses, then fuck ‘em — they’re essential to the game: meaning that they’re the opposition that you have to overcome, but are also completely irrelevant to your journey. So keep going — because the only thing that ever mattered was you learning from your mistakes, getting back up, & firing another shot to see if it goes in anyway.
Honestly, I didn’t really know what I wanted to write about, but I did know that I wanted to write something here today, & so, here I am, sitting here behind this computer screen, letting my heart speak, letting my fingers hit the keys of my MacBook, & letting my eyes read the words as they pop up on the screen. I don’t really know where this is going or what will come out of me next, but I sincerely hope if you read this that you enjoyed my little tangent, & perhaps even learned an invaluable lesson.
Thank you for taking the time read this,
Ryan
