Project details
"Gridcoin is an open source cryptocurrency which securely rewards volunteer computing performed on the BOINC platform.
BOINC is an open source volunteer computing grid which combines the processing power of individual users for the purposes of scientific research. It is free to use and already home to 30+ projects spanning a range of scientific disciplines. Examples include protein structure prediction (Rosetta@home), mapping the Milky Way galaxy (Milkyway@home), and tackling problems in public health and clean energy (World Community Grid)." [source]
Gridcoin (an open-source blockchain) is an exciting project which mints and distributes cryptocurrency to reward users who 'donate' their unused processing resources towards data-driven research and scientific discovery. The project is currently secured through a proof-of stake protocol. I love the idea to make use of something that would normally be 'wasted', like not throwing away perfectly good food but instead creating a good leftover lunch!

For part #2 I translated a bit more than 1000 words, which means the project is translated a bit over 2000 words out of the 2700 total. It will be a short but sweet project to work on: the information in the whitepaper is precise and clear, which makes it fun to read and translate. Tomorrow I can do the last part of this whitepaper which will complete the work on this project. Next week I hope to start contributing some of my own computational resources to the project - you should too! This all sounds like a low-effort way to contribute to a more informed future.
