In Argentina, the competent authorities authorized the return to on-site classes. There is a protocol to be followed and it must be adjusted to the reality of each school. In the case of my daughter Amanda, 4 years old, the kindergarten is a full day school. She enters at 9:00 am and leaves at 4:00 pm so that the different classrooms do not coincide in the entrance, dining room and exit.
En Argentina, las autoridades competentes autorizaron el regreso a clases presenciales. Existe un protocolo que acatar y que se ajuste a la realidad de cada centro educativo. En el caso de mi hija Amanda de 4 años, el jardín es jornada completa. Ella ingresa a las 9:00 am y la salida es a las 4:00 pm con el fin que, las diferentes salas no coincidan en la entrada, comedor y salida.
The call to classes, Monday, August 23rd, everything went smoothly. On Wednesday, August 25, classes were suspended because the music teacher presented symptoms compatible with COVID, therefore, the whole bubble was activated, since she had contact with all the children and we had to wait for the PCR results. In the early morning, Amanda presented high fever, I stayed awake to reduce her fever. Using my knowledge, I gave her medication, I did not cover her so that she would not keep her temperature and above all I was calm.
El llamado a clases, lunes 23 de agosto, todo de maravilla. El miércoles 25 suspendidas las clases porque la señorita (maestra) de música presentó síntomas compatibles con COVID, por tanto, se activo la burbuja completa, ya que tuvo contacto con todos los niños y se debía esperar resultados de PCR. En la madrugada, Amanda presentó fiebre alta, me desvelé para bajarle la fiebre. Usando los conocimientos, suministré medicamentos, no la cubrí para que no conservara la temperatura y sobre todo estar en calma.
It was morning and Amanda had severe nasal congestion. I incorporated other medications and since she doesn't like nasal washes, I nebulized her with saline and got her breathing better. At night she had a repeat temperature and I did not want to inform the kindergarten. All the children had a fever and the mothers were nervous waiting for the results. Until the management informed me that the PCR of the young lady was negative; but in the afternoon Amanda showed a fever. Again, medication, and another night of sleepless nights because it was difficult for her to breathe due to congestion, she cried a lot and it was worse.
Amaneció y Amanda tenía fuerte congestión nasal. Incorporé otros medicamentos y como no le gusta los lavados nasales, la nebulizo con solución salina y logré la descongestión. En la noche repitió temperatura y no quise informar al jardín. Todos los niños con fiebre y las madres nerviosas en espera del resultado. Hasta que la dirección informa que dió negativo el PCR de la señorita; pero en la tarde Amanda manifestó fogaje. Nuevamente, medicamentos y otra noche de trasnochos porque se le dificultó respirar por la congestión, lloraba mucho y era peor.
On Saturday I started with symptoms, however, still pending Amanda, moms can't get sick. While the school called for classes, other children joined in with signs of flu and had to be tested or examined by the pediatrician. The reason is that in this country, the change of season causes a flu virus, after being at 10 degrees, we go to 20 suddenly, it is strong, allergies are activated and the immune system fights viruses.
El sábado comencé con síntomas; sin embargo aún pendiente de Amanda, las madres no pueden enfermarse. Mientras la escuela llamaba a clases, otros niños se sumaban con signos de gripe y tenían que hacerse el testeo o ser examinado por el pediatra. La razón es que en este país, el cambio de estación ocasiona gripe, luego de estar a 10 grados pasamos a 20 de manera repentina, es fuerte, se activan las alergias y el sistema inmune lucha con los virus.
Now from all these days of sleeplessness, my body is taking its toll, everything hurts, head, body and a beautiful herpes on the lip appeared. Until today, Friday, I feel exhausted and with general malaise.
Ahora de todos estos días de desvelo, mi cuerpo está pasando factura, me duele todo, cabeza, cuerpo y un bello hérpes en el labio apareció. Hasta hoy viernes me siento agotada y con malestar general.
Fever at times of COVID is suspicion of the virus and until proven otherwise will be considered as such. This behavior is alarming, families are stressed because they anticipate the worst. The behavior is social phobia of fever, nobody wants to suffer from it and even less that the little ones suffer from it. Isolation while waiting for results generates anxiety and pediatricians in Argentina today are saturated with consultations due to the change of season, the return to school and the presence of Covid, which is still present in the lives of citizens.
La fiebre en tiempos de COVID es sospecha del virus y hasta que se demuestre lo contrario será considerado como tal. Este comportamiento es alarmante, las familias se estresan porque anticipan lo peor. El comportamiento es fobia social a la fiebre, nadie quiere padecer y menos que los pequeños lo sufran. El aislamiento en espera de resultados genera ansiedad y los médicos pediatras hoy día en Argentina están saturados por las consultas debido al cambio de estación, el regreso a clases y la presencia del Covid que sigue presente en la vida de los ciudadanos.
In Conclusion, fever is a symptom of the body's reaction to fight against an aggressor, if the child has other symptoms and the temperature is still high, consult the pediatrician, but it does not mean that it is Covid, there are other diseases or viruses and above all you have to stay calm to think clearly.
En Conclusión, la fiebre es un síntoma de reacción del cuerpo que lucha contra un agresor, si el niño tiene otros síntomas y la temperatura sigue elevada consulte al pediatra pero no significa que sea Covid, existen otras enfermedades o virus y sobretodo hay que mantener la calma para pensar con claridad.
