It is said time that is gone never comes back. That’s true! Time never comes back yet it leaves its lasting impact on our lives. One point of time is not isolated from the other; instead, these are in connection with each other. Time is a mysteriously strange thing.
Seemingly we have yesterdays and tomorrows, but is there anything other than today that we can live and work on? James Joyce said
Hold to the now, the here, through which all future plunges to the past.
Time is like stagnant water and our actions are like a stone thrown on the water. When a stone is thrown on water, it doesn’t only splash the water from the place it strikes; instead, it makes its impact in the form of rings. The ring doesn’t stop; its layers spread and transform into bigger ones. The farther the layer, the bigger it is.
If we do not throw the stone at all, nothing is going to change anywhere on the surface of the water. Similarly, if we want to build our future, we have to focus on constructing the present. Just like the water rings transform from smaller to bigger, our today’s small actions have a greater impact on the future. The today, the present, the now is the only opportunity that we have to accomplish the dreams of future. Past, present and future all are linked up and the deed we do today, no matter how big or small, have an impact on our tomorrow.
QuoteNothing will ever happen in the future; it will happen in the Now. Eckhart Tolle
All of us have dreams to attain or accomplish something in the future. However, nothing happens on its own. We cannot attain anything in the future unless we have laid its foundation in the present. If we are dreaming to harvest some crops in the future, it is necessary to sow its seeds today. There is no possibility of reaping the crops without pouring energy into sowing and growing its seeds.
No giant building was produced in a day. It was prepared brick by brick. It was never like a constructor dreamed of a building and when he reached the location the building was there. Never! The constructors put their efforts today to construct the building they dream to see in the future. They worked hard to accomplish their dream.
No dream is accomplished overnight. It needs baby steps and consistent hard work in the present. It passes through a process to turn into something noticeable. Dreams are like trees. There is always a need to sow the seeds to grow them. No tree becomes fruitful the day it was seeded. It passes through a process and gradually transforms from weaker to stronger. Similarly, dreams need a journey for its completion that has to be started today.
It is very important to examine what things we are investing our energies on today. It is foolish to expect an apple tree if we have sown the mango seeds. We can never harvest cotton if we planted jute. The building cannot turn out to be of red bricks if we prepared it of grey.
Alice Walker has rightly said,
QuoteLook closely at the present you are constructing, it should look like the future you are dreaming.
That’s why we should be very prudent in doing whatever we choose to do today. It is not the strength of our desires that matters in the attainment of dreams in the future; it is the strength and direction of our efforts in the present that decide how close we are to our dreams.
How was my experience writing for energy refill?
This is the first time I have participated in a contest by energy refill. Honestly speaking, the phrase gave me a tough time. I had written the post about ten days ago but after writing it I got confused if my content is doing justification with the phrase. I came back to the post today and with a fresher mind, I was able to edit it in a better way. Omitting some of the sentences and adding some new ones made me understand the secret of a better writing experience. What is that? Before publishing the first draft, we should allow ourselves some time for refreshing our ideas. When we forget about some pieces of the initial work, we find some innovative ideas to get their place. Taking a break is also helpful in finding the flaws in the initial draft.
Overall, writing for the energy refill contest increased my knowledge added a positive experience to my writing.
I am thankful to the energy refill team for giving us an opportunity to learn and earn.
