Over here, it's raining cat and dogs, hence the need for a gorgeous hoodie.
A friend reached out to me that she would to learn how to make a hoodie since she's been having lots of order lately.
Teaching is my hobby, so why not? We booked a date as it was an online class held on Telegram.
I'll also want to share the class here for anyone who seem to be interested.
Let's get down to the business of the day.
The material needed for this is, pattern paper, pencil, French curve, the fabric, your sewing machine and a matching thread.
Before achieving a perfect hoodie, you'll need to get the round neckline circumference of your outfit.
Which means you'd have joined the shoulder to shoulder of your hoodie.
Using the circumference of the neckline, you'll now plot a draft.
The width of your block is answer you got from round neckline. The length is about fifteen inches.
There are different styles of hoodie, so your draft depends solely on your hoodie style.
For this class, we will draft the curve overlap hoodie style.
To achieve, you'll extend your lines by four inches for the overlapping.
On the width side and slash into two, you'll make a curve on the hem with about two inches and on the center back, you'll go in by One inch and then connect, creating a head shape.
Heres the picture of what it should look like. You'll cut this shape in four places. Two for the main fabric which will be joined together as one piece, and another two for the lining which will be visible when the hoodie is falling behind
The next step is to proceed to your sewing machine to join each piece.
This is what it should look like.
The next is to join the lining, (you can use another fabric of your choice, or same fabric as the main fabric.)
Here's the finished product of the hoodie after using the lining to turn the main fabric.
At this point, all you'll do is to join it to the blouse.
Front view.
On my next episode I'll show you how to attach it to the blouse and show you the full fit.
If you learned something today, I'm really excited. See you another time.
