A somatic experience is a method invented by Dr. Peter Levine,
A method based on the fact that animals in nature do not suffer from trauma, the natural animals are in much more difficult situations than us humans and they do not suffer from almost traumas ...
In Peter Levine's study, he says that it is the animals that suffer from a trauma because they are close to humans for most of the times lol.
You have to understand that trauma can cause a lot of things, depression, anxiety, violence, and tantrums.
As well as to the formulations of mental illness.
Healing trauma can cure many of these things.
So, what is going on? and how does it differ from other methods (Especially conventional and traditional)
Many methods try to deal with anxiety.
Freudian methods claim that the root problem must be overwhelmed by the unconscious and consciously treated through all sorts of therapies designed for the same mental illness or trauma.
For example, people who are afraid of dogs(Anxious)
Psychologists expose them to dogs until they get used to it and stop being afraid.
These methods are very exhausting to the patient and many times the patient does not have the strength to stand up to them. This method is called the CBT method(Cognitive Behavioral Therapy)
Another example:
If you are afraid to die, write down the word death (or any word related to death that makes you anxious)
And read the note with those words for an hour every day for a week.
Dr Peter Levine has discovered in his research that although this can help anxiety or trauma, it is not a solution
For three main reasons:
- It treats a person in a way that is much more biased towards the psychological and ignores the body
- They deal with bad and not good So the brain gets used to thinking about the things that frighten him .
- The circle that opens in the nervous system does not close.
The method has been in successful clinical use for over 45 years.
Dr. Peter Levin discovered that when a person is in an extreme state of anxiety, he is in an unfinished circle.
When his primitive part of the brain controls his life much more than the rational part.
2 types that focus on them
- The reptilian-survival brain
- The rational neocortex
Because the reptile brain responds at a rate of 1/7 from the part of the neocortex, the release state from stress and tension and trauma takes longer.
What you do with the S.E method is to talk to the primitive brain.
When you speak his language, you can brush and clean the nervous system from all sorts of things that have been imprisoned inside it.

I will give an example:
A person who has made a big accident should tremble and cry, or at least somehow release the pressures.
Instead he is going to exchange details with the other car owner to get money from the insurance and not to leave a must, at that moment he has stored in his nervous system another problem that remains there until he releases it because he didn't listen to his body and he listened to his rational.
Many triggers can trigger anxiety every time anew and it will not go away until it does what its body requires for life!
For this there is exactly the method of somatic experience, a method that when applied is hard to believe in the wonderful feelings it gives.
