BEIRUT, LEBANON (8:50 A.M.) - The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) suffered heavy casualties in the northern countryside of the Hama province, yesterday, after the Islamist rebels carried out a powerful ambush near the Idlib axis.
Led by Jaysh Al-Izza, the Islamist rebels ambushed the Syrian Arab Army troops near the small town of Massasneh; this would result in over casualties for the military.
In response to the Islamist attack, the Syrian Arab Army unleashed a barrage of surface-to-surface missiles and artillery shells towards the Jaysh Al-Izza stronghold of Al-Latamnah.
Despite this response, a source from the Syrian Arab Army told Al-Masdar News that the Islamist attack was a serious violation of the Sochi agreement that was established on September 17th of this year.
The source said that the Syrian Arab Army will avenge these losses by eventually launching an offensive against the Islamist rebels in the northern countryside of the Hama Governorate.
The Syrian Army has mentioned a potential offensive in the Hama and Idlib provinces for months; however, no attack has been launched as of yet.
