"You learn a lot when you're barefoot. The first thing is every step you take is different." - Michael Franti
Now that warm weather is here it is time to kick of your shoes and dig your toes into the grass and soil. Did you know that walking barefoot benefits the body in various ways?
Since we live in a tropical country I hardly wear shoes and I am loving it! The dirtier my feet at the end of the day the better....
Grounding, aka earthing, is the simple act of walking barefoot with your feet directly touching the soil. It allows your body to absorb negative electrons through the Earth, which helps to stabilize daily cortisol rhythm and create a balanced internal bioelectrical environment.
But that's not the only benefit you'll get! Here are a few more reasons to kick off those shoes more often:
- Reduces pain and inflammation
- Improves sleep
- Boosts the immune system
- Regulates the nervous system, decreasing the feeling of anxiety and stress
- May lessen the severity of menstrual cramps
- Helps to loosen tense muscles
- Alleviates headaches and migraine
- Boost energy levels
- Reduce the electromagnetic charge within the body and prevent you from the harmful effects of EMF’s
Over time, we have lost much of our connection with Mother Earth due to modern living, but making an effort to spend more time barefoot in nature can provide more benefits than you would think.
Convinced? You'd better! Even if you don't experience any of these benefits, walking barefoot directly connects you with Mother Earth. And that alone is a reason to feel happy!
