It's the first day of 2018 (in case you haven't noticed), and like all good nerds, I'm spending it in front of the computer, watching all sorts of cool things happen in the crypto-sphere. And what's got me feeling great today is watching Steem bounce closer and closer to its all time high (which it reached in July last year).
Haven't we come a long way?

But, being serious for a bit (which is tough for me, I know), I'm very keen to think about what it will take to make the price continue to rocket over the next year or so towards the superhighs.
There are loads of things that will grow the price of STEEM over the next few months. We could debate them all day long, but for me one of the absolutely key things is in educating those in the crypto-sphere as to why this blockchain is a serious contender.
At the moment, we know there's a lot of new money that's come into the general ecosystem. People are starting to look more at Bitcoin, and I guess as an extension, there's a lot of new speculation in altcoins too.
It amazes me though why STEEM isn't one of the top blockchains. With lightening fast transactions, an already massive userbase compared to many other coins (some which are ridiculously priced in comparison), and, here's the kicker the ZERO FEES, Steem should be hands down spanking a lot of the competition.
This makes me think that those of us in the community are perhaps missing something critical. And we are. It's called educating people. We need more and more people to get out and start telling the world about the STEEM blockchain, Steemit and what's coming in the next year. We need to show the creatives, the content creators and the generally anti-mainstream minded why they should be here, and not dicking around on Facebook, making Zuckerberg more and more cash to add to his warchest for his 2020 presidential bid.
That's why the people in the #promo-steem world are so important right now. And here's a new years honours list to some of the amazing folk who are smashing it out there bringing folk right around the world into the Steem community.
