I just had a great and wide-ranging conversation with ,
, and
where we talked about my history with Steem, Hive, and Koinos. Ultimately I came away thinking that one of the ways I might be of service to the Hive community is in helping you all to craft your messaging. Having a great product is necessary, but not sufficient. People need to hear about your product, understand it, and get excited about it. As
pointed out, Hive is unique in that part of Hive's value proposition _is it's community--you--_and above all a mission has to be true. That means the mission has to come from you.

So what do you think the mission of Hive is (or should be)?
Bear in mind what a mission is NOT. A mission is not a unique value proposition, which is what makes the product special. Nor is it a pitch which is what you say to specific groups (demographics) to get them especially excited about your product.
The mission is the shortest statement you can say to anyone to get them excited about your product. It needs to be true, compelling, and accessible to all. So, for example, "decentralized database" has no place in a mission because it is not compelling or accessible to all. Same for "censorship resistant."
