How are you, my friends from Hive and Rising Star? From here, I send you all a hug and wish you good luck on your day. Today I bring you a new drawing I made with colored pencils and markers. For this drawing, I used an instrument card, the cajon, as a guide card. This card corresponds to the ID number i21. This is one of the oldest cards in the game and one of the first cards made for instruments. So, for me, it's a privilege to paint such an iconic card.
The cajon itself is an instrument that I've personally never seen in person, but I've seen it a lot in movies and songs. In fact, it's widely used in the music I listen to. I almost always start my drawings by putting the letters first, meaning the names and numbers. The reason for this is that you can't paint well with colored pencils over other colors, so it's better to paint around them. That's how I do it. In the card drawing, that's what I did; I started with a pencil, tracing the name.
I put both the identification number and the instrument name in a box covered with some lines I made with my ruler. Then, I drew the base of the card around everything. The box was what I followed after that. The shape, as you can see, is somewhat square, but with a line running down the middle to give the illusion of depth.
I used a stronger color for the edges of the base, and then a slightly lighter pencil on the inside. I was careful not to press too hard with the pencil so that the blue wouldn't be too intense and somehow overlap the blue on the edges.
I painted the areas near the drawer a light brown, and the bottom of the drawer a blue. I was trying to create something similar to what's on the card I used as a guide.
I painted the drawer a light orange. And some touches of brown. Then I highlighted everything with my black marker. That way everything looks clearer.
Thanks for stopping by, friends of Hive and Rising Star. That's the end of this post, but of course, we'll see you again.
