Our fathers taught us
That tomorrow wasn't ours to consider.
They looted and ate the national cake
And told us it was okay to do the same.
Don't be confused.
We did not sit in peace to talk
the shells of their corrupt practices
Or in class with their bloody hands holding a white conscience to a black slate.
We were constantly told the story of tomorrow.
That the leaders of tomorrow can only do as much as eat their cake and have it as many times as they desired.
We were young
And could not understand
The lies they kept telling year in and out.
Recycling the lies and feeding us in a different shape.
Our fathers
Taught us to lie.
But we are tired.
You will find us voting this year
Taking power by the horn
Breaking weak thighs that have sat on thrones for too long.
Let the dead be buried.
