So last night I was browsing the bitcointalk marketplace last night and in the "Digital Goods" section for Invites/Accounts, I saw several SteemIt accounts for sale.
While this is probably old news for most of you, it was something I hadn't seen before.
Ok, so they're selling steemit accounts...that's legal,but....
In the hunt for spammers, the third screenshot there is obviously using a bot or just different IPs etc. to make new accounts. I'm somewhat ok with that.
My Issue, is the aged accounts with SteemPower...reputation...multiple posts...followers...other metrics
I think accounts like that, with upvoted posts and followers that trust their content, should not be sold outright. I think they should cash-out if anything. Aged and formerly active accounts with followers have a certain trust from their followers about the content they post and that gets upvoted.
To sell those accounts themselves though...seems to be an easy way to spam/tricky fellow Steemians who may not know the ownership of the account has changed. What may have been formerly good advice and good posts may now be used by whoever wants to post junk or trickery to the followers of those accounts...and they might be accepted with the same merit as the original owner...which could lead to some bad things around this place.
Just my .02, I'm really more curious about what you guys think of it and if it's problematic what we as a community might be able to do about it.
Thanks for reading and steem on!
