SAVE OUR SEA TURTLES

Last month, two men in a fishing boat were caught in Semporna, Sabah. They were believed to be hunting and slaughtered endangered sea turtles which was both cruel and illegal. On their boat, police discovered tools for hunting sea turtles, sea turtles shells and slices of sea turtle's meat. Disgusting! You can read the news article about it here .
This got me thinking, in this era of gadgets, there's still demand for sea turtles as delicacies. Whether their eggs or their meat. People around the world still finds it "okay" to consume them. We, humans, are the reason for their extinction. I am very upset!
Early last year I got to be in Sandakan for awhile and I got to go to the jetty a lot. My boyfriend was working for a company that runs a resort at Turtle Island, Sandakan. Though I never really been to the island since I easily get seasick, but I got to know a lot about sea turtles. I know that even though a turtle can lay about 100 eggs at a time but not all eggs survive. Even so the demand for turtle eggs is still high although it is illegal. I can see a lot of sellers selling turtle eggs secretly around Sandakan.
Drew this back in Sandakan, last year.
Baby turtle!!
