A friend of mine and I planned to have a lunch meeting at a lovely Mediterranean restaurant, called De Gulden Bock in Antwerp, Belgium.
I arrived at the restaurant ontime, so ordered a glass of champagne and told the waiter that I'd order my food when my friend is here. She is one of my closest friends. I love her dearly, but she is sometimes late, to be precise, always late, for 15~30mins, and this time was a record breaking- late for 1.5h(!). I ended up having to drink 3 glasses of champagne before she finally arrived. (her excuse was 'bad traffic' : ))
Anyway, the food was lovely as always. They have these trays of different dishes beautifully displayed at the counter, and you just tell the waiter what you'd like while looking at them. They heat it up in the kitchen, then bring it to the table.
Their green salad (consists of green asparagus, artichoke, califlower, green leaves, quail eggs, etc with some kind of secret homemade green sauce) is amazing, incredibly fresh and crispy.
It's located in the middle of the posh shopping street in Antwerp, which is known for Belgium's most fashionable city.
It doesn't usually bother me when people are late, but waiting at a restaurant for 1.5h was not predicted :D By the way, she is Japanese. I think Japanese people are usually very punctual though!
Are you punctual or the other one who's chronically late?
