So you think a teenager is stress?
Well well have I got news for you....
When your child is born you think that you are never going to survive it, you are not going to know if you are doing the right thing, you are not going to know when to say no and when to say yes.
This is all true, but the good news is they are under your roof. You know exactly where they are, if they are sick or not, if they are happy or sad.
Then they become teenagers and suddenly you apparently turn stupid over night. You can actually hear their eyes rolling in the next room. Very little what you say is cool or right. O and let met not get started on how many occassions you embaress them - by merely opening your mouth. You end up in endless "discussions" (screaming matches are actually the correct word), but you still have a wonderful upper hand over them....taking away things that they really value, as part of their punishment, like cellphones and computers.
Then comes the next phase. Being finished with school and being considered an adult
O If I have a dollar for every time I hear the words "I am not a child anymore"
I really think this is the most difficult part of having a child. Even though you wanted to strangle them sometimes as teenagers, they are in fact now grown up and you must let them go. Spread your wings little bird and fly...and all you can think of is that song Don't fly too high my little bird...
But no matter how much you worry, lie awake at night waiting for their return home, you must take comfort in the thought that you have taught them well and now it is their turn too learn from their own mistakes. Even if it still feels that your heart gets ripped out if you see them get hurt. It is their time to shine and their time to fall and stand up on their own.
So at the end of the day, no matter how old your children are and how many times they tell you they are not a child any more, they stay YOUR child and the worrying never ends, but the pleasure and love (and shocks) that kids bring into your house, outweighs all of the other stress and you know for sure, your heart will never be part of your body again,
