After the events at the well, Rebecca ran home and broke the news concerning the man she met at the well. Hearing Rebecca's testimony and seeing the gifts she got, Laban ran to the well and invited the man to come and lodge in his house. Introducing himself as Abraham's servant, the man recounted why he had come and the incident with Rebecca at the well.
Bethuel and his family were convinced that the Lord was involved in the marriage proposal and agreed to give Rebecca to Isaac. Abraham's servant paid the bride price through the gifts he gave to Rebecca, Laban and their mother.
A traditional wedding was performed, the visiting team from Abraham's house ate and drank, and spent the night. Rebecca's consent was obtained by her family before she was blessed and sent away to her husband's house.
Getting a wife should be done in an orderly manner and with the full consent and support of both families of the intending couple.
