The Psalmist recalls that God remembered him. David exclaimed in Psalm 40:2, " He has brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my steps." After God reversed Hannah's state of barrrenness, she praises God and said, ' He raises the poor from the dust, and lifts the beggar from the ash heap, to set them among princes, and make them inherit the throne of glory ...." ( 1 Samuel 2:8 ). Isaiah 4915-16 says, " Can a woman forget her nursing child, and not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely they may forget, yet I will not forget you. See, I have inscribed you on the palm of my hands, your walls are continually before Me."
In the same way, God remembers, rescues, and feeds us. For these many benefits and more, the Psalmist invites us in verse 26 of Psalm 136 to give Him thanks. Do you believe that God has inscribed your name on His palm? If so, let that consciousness be on yot heart and mind always. When you pass through any " miry Clay" or any " Valley of the shadow of death", remember that God knows you by name. Then call upon Him and He will answer you.
