In the first temptation of Jesus Christ, the devil asked Him to turn stones into bread if He was the Son of God. Jesus refused. After taking Jesus to a high point of the temple, the devil requested Him to throw down if He was the Son of God because angels would come to His rescue.
Jesus used the Scripture that forbids any man to tempt God. Thereafter, the devil took Jesus to a very high mountain and showed Him all the kingdom of the world. He promised to give them to Christ if He would bow down and worship him. Jesus responded that the Scripture says to worship and serve the Lord only.
Temptation comes to everybody. Christ , overcame. This victory over temptation is for all believers. As we boldly approach the throne of grace, we will find help whenever we are faced temptation ( Hebrews 4:14 -16 ). The lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes and the pride of life are of the world ( 1 John 2:16 ).
The Lord Jesus was tempted but did not sin. This is because He delighted in the word of God. Reading, studying, mediating, memorising as well obedience to God's word, are the daily habits of faithful Christians.
