The last residents left the town in 1956 and the desert began to reclaim Kolmanskop. Imagine how this water basin stayed here without a human presence for more than 60 years and the sand slowly overtake the once grand homes, filling the rooms where people lived.
Today Kolmanskop is a touristic place and it is difficult to find a pristine untouched sand without people footprints on it. But when you are able to find some hidden corner in a distant house which no one entered for years - it is definitely a recipe for the great shot!
