Regularmente cuando deseamos hacer un regalo a un ser querido buscamos o hacemos lo mejor. Mi hermana quería unos Cascanueces y tenía unas latas de papas fritas guardadas. El año pasado hice unos con rollos de papel higiénico, entonces quise recrearlos con esas latas pero esta vez no quise usar material de reciclaje en su totalidad o en su mayoría.
Usually when we want to give a gift to a loved one we look for or do our best. My sister wanted some Nutcrackers and I had some potato chip cans in storage. Last year I made some with toilet paper rolls, so I wanted to recreate them with those cans but this time I didn't want to use all or most of the recycled material.
Para este proyecto compré algunas láminas de foami que me faltaban y me dispuse a trabajar con el corazón.
For this project I bought some foami sheets that I was missing and set to work my heart out.
Cascanueces / Nutcrackers
Realicé dos Cascanueces pero para el proceso solamente describiré el paso a paso de uno. Para ello utilicé: una lata de papas fritas, foami escarchado en colores: rojo, negro, plata, blanco, piel, dorado y verde; hilos de estambre, palitos de altura, cartulina, cartón, tijera, tapaboca, lápiz, lapicero, marcador, rollos de papel higiénico, regla, silicón líquido y en barra.
I made two Nutcrackers but for the process I will only describe the step by step of one. For this I used: a potato chip can, frosted foami in colors: red, black, silver, white, skin, gold and green; yarns, sticks, cardboard, cardboard, scissors, mouthpiece, pencil, pen, marker, toilet paper rolls, ruler, liquid and stick silicone.
El procedimiento / The procedure
Hice un boceto del diseño. El proceso lo mostraré en partes.

El tambor
1- Corté un tubo de papel higiénico y coloqué una tapa de cartulina en cada hueco.
2- Forré con foami verde.
3- Recorté una tira de foami escarchado de color verde formando triángulos que luego pegué en el tambor.
The drum
1- I cut a toilet paper tube and placed a cardboard lid in each hole.
2- I lined it with green foami.
3- I cut a strip of green frosted foami forming triangles that I then glued on the drum.
Los palitos
Corté dos palitos de altura y en la punta le puse dos bolitas que hice con dos pedacitos de tapaboca.
The sticks
I cut two tall sticks and at the tip I put two little balls that I made with two pieces of mouth-covering.
El sombrero
Formé un cilindro con el foami negro, coloqué una tapa circular en uno de los extremos y en el otro una tapa con un pequeño saliente para la viscera.
The hat
I formed a cylinder with the black foami, placed a circular cap on one end and on the other end a cap with a small protrusion for the visor.
La base
Calqué la forma de la base de la lata sobre el cartón y luego dibujé la suela de las botas, forrando con foami negro.
The base
I traced the shape of the base of the can on the cardboard and then drew the sole of the boots, lining it with black foami.
Los brazos
Recorté y enrollé dos tubos de papel higiénico formando dos cilindros delgados. Forré con foami escarchado rojo haciendo una abertura en cada tubo para doblar y pegar con silicón en barra.
The arms
I cut and rolled two toilet paper tubes forming two thin cylinders. I lined with red frosted foami making an opening in each tube to fold and glue with silicone stick.
El pelo y la barba
Até hilos de estambre en una pequeña y delgada tira de cartulina y en otra tira de cartulina más larga. La barba corresponde a la tira más pequeña y la tira larga representa el pelo. Deshilaché los hilos para que se viera mejor.
The hair and beard
I tied strands of yarn on a small thin strip of cardboard and on another longer strip of cardboard. The beard corresponds to the smaller strip and the long strip represents the hair. I frayed the threads to make it look better.
El cuerpo
Pegué 3 tiras de foami. Una color piel para la cara, color rojo para la chaqueta, color dorado para el pantalón y color negro para las botas.
The body
I glued 3 strips of foami. A skin color for the face, red for the jacket, gold for the pants and black for the boots.
Ensamblado
Pegué el cuerpo a la base y los brazos. Al pegar el pelo y la barba, corté para darle forma.
Assembly
I glued the body to the base and arms. When gluing the hair and beard, I cut to shape it.
Resultado. Listos todos los detalles / Result. All the details ready.
